New four-position adjustable joystick mounts and leash-style taper allows the rider to adjust the handlebar position to suit their size and preferences. Since we had 2018 YZ85 at hand for comparison to 2019, it was very clear from the start that the new power valve engine was finally driven up to speed. Curved power 2018 is very tight and hard to keep the pipe compared to 2019 It’s like day and night. The easy ride of the 2019 YZ85 was remarkable in question rolls. Our seasoned test rider realized really fast that he did not need to misuse the clutch to keep the engine pulling through the sanding corners. And ’19 blocks have more average range and curved power is wider compared to’ 18. When the riders turned back to 2018, both commented that he felt dated, sluggish, and the commentary was everywhere. Yamaha hit their mark regarding the performance on ’19. One of our test riders was a little boy who liked the top end and overrev but he is also slightly heavier than the average 85cc racer at 125 lbs.
