The engine of the Z400 ABS is a cooled liquid, a 399cc parallel coupling with an oversquare 70 x 51.8 mm bore / stroke, a 11.5: 1 compression ratio, a dohc head with 4 valves per cylinder and fuel injection with two 32mm throttle bodies. Kawasaki claims 28 pounds of torque at 8,000 per minute. Its 6-speed Kawasaki has been the exclusive positive neutral seeker and clutch assist and slippers, and the final engine is by chain.
2020 Kawasaki Z400 ABS Specs
Like the H2 ninja, the Z400 ABS has a tubeless frame tubular steel. A short, 53.9-inch wheelbase and long, aluminum tube box is said to cast a swingarm to give the bike a smart handle. The suspension system is treated by a 41mm adjustable shaft and the rear shock trac has a lower link with adjustable preload.
It has once again grown into a modern Z-form of naughty motorcycles. Set time intervals between the Z125 and the Z650 is the all-new Z400 sub-$ 5000 upright motorcycle based on the Ninja 400. In addition to contributing to the sharp appearance of the Z400’s, the newly designed LED headlights are highly visible, provide significantly increased brightness and a wider lighting path.
Z400 features frame trillis similar in design to that of H2 Ninja. Kawasaki’s advanced dynamic hardness analysis was used to ensure homely stiffness with light weight. The engine is rigid – mounted and used as a confirmed member. The design of the new frame contributes significantly to the low-curb brake mass.
More rugged ø 41 mm Telescopic Fork delivers the best working suspension. The front wheel feels really planted, the direction changes are made easily (even when the bike is fairly upright – handy when navigating traffic jams), and overall suspension offers the blushness of the larger bike displacement.
The braking is handled by a single 2-piston calipers on each wheel, with the front pressure on the disc is 310mm and the depth of the drum pressure is 220mm. As the model name suggests, ABS is standard. The cast, 5-spoke, 17-inch wheels and the style of the stars are flipped with Danlop rays.
Like its Z650 and Z900 big brothers, the Z400 has an aggressive design using the Kawasaki design language in Sugomi, with a “crouching position, the head in a low position and the tail swept.” The headlamp and LED backlight, and the panel counters are multi-function LCD screen.
2020 Kawasaki Z400 Engine
Engine design from scratch allows engine layout to be optimized for size, weight and efficiency. The new engine is comparable in size to that of the 2013-2018 Z250. Many weight loss efforts keep weight to a minimum – despite greater displacement. Clean design minimizes any unnecessary elements, and a refurbished layout enables minimal engine and cooling system with minimal external pipe.
The new Z400 combines the sharp and aggressive style of the Z650 with the large design of the Z300 to create an aggressive, graceful and rugged impression. Its muscles and athletic structure reflect increased performance during the formation of a flowing design that appears to float above the engine. Like other models in the Z series, Sugomi design elements (crouching position, drop in head mode and tail swept) give it a silhouette instantly recognizable as Kawasaki supernaked.
2020 Kawasaki Z400 ABS Review
2020 Kawasaki Z400 Top Speed
Kawasaki says the Z400 ABS has an upright position after a sporty ride, with a wide steering wheel, a narrow seat with a high seat height of 30.9 inches and a lightweight 368 lb brake weight. The Z400 is equipped with the same stacked instrument block Z650. The analogue speedometer has an easy-to-read design and has a gear-center indicator located at the top of the multi-function LCD screen.
A more compact clutch with less rigid operating panels provides a lighter lift pull. To complement the very light feeling in the forklift, the new clutch has a wider participation range, facilitating control.
Displacement 399 cm 3, the new engine delivers a significant increase in performance compared to the predecessor: 33.4 kw (+ 4.4 kw vs 2018 Z300). High performance can be greatly reduced to the new lower intake, which is accompanied by a larger airbox providing increased efficiency of intake. The increased performance is complemented by a friend-to-passenger character; smooth response and low torque eventually make it easier to control the throttle for both new and experienced passengers.
The relaxed rider triangle accommodates a wide range of rider sizes and ride positions, contributing to his personality as a rider. The riding mode is relatively upright and the wider steering wheel puts the rider in perfect position for active control, facilitating dynamic, sporty ride.
2020 Kawasaki Z400 ABS Features
While the height of the seat is 785 mm (when the radial tire is installed), the slim design of the seat (30 mm narrower) and the rear of the engine gives the passengers an unimpeded line of their feet to reach the ground. Lightweight design of the new engine and frame, coupled with the intensive effort to minimize the weight in a curb of only 167 kg for the Z400 (3 kg lighter than the Z300) – making it the lightest type of twin cylinder models in its class.
Measuring Ø 310 mm (the same size as the Z1000), the Z400 / 250 is a semi-floating front drive that ensures the stopping of power. Its new rigid front brakes help eliminate inactive stroke, which contributes to brake control, while the carefully selected brake hose and material contribute to the brakes. All models are equipped with abs and feature the latest ABS unit from Nissin, the most compact and light weight available.
With both the engine and the frame being new, the engine can also be optimized. The new chassis features a short / long wheelbase design, complemented by a sharp wheel angle that provides light and natural handling. The light weight of the bike also contributes to easy handling and facilitates maneuverability when getting out of the bike.
